Barron Brothers
Barron Brothers William Barron 1895-1918 Edward Barron 1899-1954 Soon after the outbreak of WWI the Barron Brothers became members of the Marines when a company of soldiers of the sea was organized here. They were among the first Marines to land in France. The brothers spent months in the trenches together and experienced some of the fiercest battles of the war. They were both wounded at Chateau-Thierry, in France. Edward lost his right arm below the elbow, the rest of his arm was left in the historic Chateau-Thierry. William was shot in the shoulder and his lung. The Barron boys found themselves recovering in the hospital at the same time before being able to be sent home. The first to go home was Edward with William behind him by a few days.
